The Business Administration – Accounting covers a number of areas including accounting theory, procedures and best practices. Detailed instruction is provided in auditing, taxation, law, information systems and management. Accelerate your learning in Humber's Accounting Centre, where you'll gain hands-on experience in industry-standard software such as Caseware, Idea, Profile (personal and corporate tax), Access, Excel, Simply Accounting and Accpac Plus.
There are wide-ranging courses on subjects such as quantities methods, business systems, marketing, business statistics, financial controllership and auditing. Learn the inner workings of the accounting field from expert faculty who will teach you key concepts in buying, selling, financing and investing. Practical in-class activities and assignments are complemented by an innovative co-op option available in the second year to students showing a strong academic performance.
The program offers the opportunity to complete Level three courses approved by the Certified General Accountants (CGA) of Ontario. Current CGA membership criteria require Humber graduates to enrol in additional CGA-specific courses to qualify. Completion of this program with a 70 percent in each of the related CGA Levels one to three courses gives you admission into the postgraduate certificate, and on completion of this you will have your Level four for CGA. Make sure to review the CGA requirements and standards carefully to gain a complete understanding of current requirements.
Students with postsecondary credentials from outside of Canada need to have their transcripts sent directly to CGA Ontario and they should apply to CGA Ontario in person and arrange to have the transcript evaluated on a course-by-course basis and also have their degree be evaluated. CGA requires a degree in order to become a CGA graduate.
